Event service PR pipeline fails with template not found¶
One-sentence summary: event-service repositories scaffolded on Forge 3.8.2 or earlier reference a pipeline template name that never existed; point the extends: block at the correct template.
🚨 Symptom¶
The PR validation pipeline for an event-service repository fails at queue time:
Appears in Azure DevOps when a PR triggers .azdo/azure-pipelines-pr.yml.
📌 Applies to¶
| Aspect | Value |
|---|---|
| Component | Azure DevOps pipelines, saif-event-service template |
| Forge versions | Repositories scaffolded on 3.8.2 and earlier |
| Related versions | SAIF/pipeline-templates at refs/heads/releases/v3 |
🧠 Cause¶
The saif-event-service template generated a pipeline that extends azure-event-service-pr-v2.yml@templates, but no template with that name exists in SAIF/pipeline-templates. The Forge template source has been corrected for future scaffolds, but existing repositories keep their generated file.
✅ Fix¶
In .azdo/azure-pipelines-pr.yml, update the extends: block:
extends:
template: azure-event-service-pr.yml@templates # was: azure-event-service-pr-v2.yml@templates
🔬 Verify¶
Push the change or re-queue the PR pipeline. The run starts instead of failing at template resolution.
